News Ranked fourth-best orthopaedic clinic in the world

Schulthess Klinik reaffirms its status as a global leader in healthcare. The clinic has been named the fourth-best orthopaedic clinic in the world and the second-best orthopaedic clinic in Europe in the latest hospital ranking published by renowned American magazine Newsweek and research institute Statista.

Worlds best hospitals 2025

The impressive placement on the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2025 and World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2025 lists confirms Schulthess Klinik’s leading role in orthopaedics and is a testament to the consistently excellent service standards at the hospital. The only institutes ranked higher are the Hospital for Special Surgery and the Mayo Clinic in the USA, and the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Germany. By coming in fourth, Schulthess Klinik has managed to match its best result so far. Before last year’s fourth placing, it held the title of the sixth-best hospital in the world between 2021 and 2023.

In 2023, Newsweek and Statista also started ranking the top smart hospitals as a way of evaluating technological and digital progress in individual clinics. Schulthess Klinik has been included in this latest list too in 2025.

Process and recognition of excellence
The rankings are based on the results from an extensive online survey completed by tens of thousands of doctors and healthcare specialists around the world along with the analysis of accreditation data and a study on Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). The excellent results are a reflection of the high opinion that medical professionals have of Schulthess Klinik.

Continued improvement and international esteem
“It’s fantastic that our commitment to excellent service is recognised globally. This is down to the hard work and dedication of our employees. I’m very proud of them all,” said Andrea Rytz, CEO of Schulthess Klinik. “Our continued success in the ranking motivates us to keep investing in innovation, research and the best medical care for our patients.” Schulthess Klinik has managed to steadily climb up the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals ranking since 2021, confirming its prominent position as a globally leading centre for orthopaedic surgery and treatment.
