Head of Department Dr. Daniel Herren was happy about the visit of two friends and fellow hand surgeons in March: Prof. Simon Farnebo from Sweden and Dr. Alex Lluch, Member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH), from Spain. In the operating theatre, Daniel Herren gave his colleagues tips and tricks on the operations on the thumb carpometacarpal joint with the Touch prosthesis and on the proximal interphalangeal joint with the CapFlex prosthesis. These techniques are the result of many years of research and development that offer patients a better quality of life.
The afternoon at the Schulthess Klinik was equally interesting: Senior Research Associate, Dr. phil. Miriam Marks, provided the two international guests with insights into current hand surgery research. In the end, it was an inspiring day for everyone involved with constructive discussions and new insights. On this basis, the visit has further strengthened the cooperation of our department with top international surgeons.
