News Persona Revision System implanted in Switzerland for the first time
Schulthess Klinik is the first clinic in Switzerland to successfully deploy the Persona Revision System, marking a step forward in the field of knee surgery. The new implant enables more precise procedures and flexible revision of existing Persona total knee replacements, the second most common type of implant in Switzerland. This is great news for both patients and surgeons.
The Persona Revision System enables a more precise, flexible and patient-centred approach. It allows the targeted partial replacement of existing Persona knee arthroplasties made by ZimmerBiomet, eliminating the need to implant an entire new replacement. Previously, this was not possible in Switzerland or Europe. “This provides more flexibility and is kinder to the patient,” explained Dr. med. Gregor Baumann, Senior Consultant in Knee Surgery. The implantation technique and the instruments have been optimised, paving the way for safer and more precise procedures. An additional advantage is the greater range of femur sizes, meaning that implants can be tailored even more precisely to patients’ individual anatomies.
The future of knee revision surgery
The successful roll-out of the Persona Revision System demonstrates the commitment of Schulthess Klinik to pioneering innovative technologies in the field of orthopaedics. As well as representing technological progress, the new implant is another step towards patient-centred and sustainable treatment.
