Rheumatology and Rehabilitation
Annual Report 2022
Rheumatology is a broad medical specialty. Thus, our Rheumatology and Rehabilitation department treats a variety of complex conditions. These range from inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis to degenerative back and joint diseases.
The focus of our assessment and treatment is always on the patient as a whole. Therapy is administered using an integrative approach individually tailored to the patient. We often work together across disciplines with other departments.
We have a strong foundation built on the extensive diagnostic experience of our specialists, which we combine with state-of-the-art treatment methods. Continuous training and advancing our treatment methods are a vital part of what we do. This means that we not only keep moving forwards, but we also have the means to help our patients get moving again in a healthy way.
Extensive expertise on infiltrations
Infiltrations are an important tool we use to treat inflammation and pain. In 2022, we added to our range of infiltrations. Examples include anti-inflammatory drugs (cortisone), hyaluronic acid (viscosupplementation) and autologous blood (PRP). We most often treat the peripheral joints such as the shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee and foot, but also the spine, nerves and soft tissues. In order to achieve a precise placement of the infiltrations, we use ultrasound or image intensifiers if necessary.
This form of therapy is part of our multimodal treatment concept. Depending on the patient’s needs, this includes specific anti-inflammatory and pain relief medication, physiotherapy, medical exercise therapy, occupational advice, occupational therapy, aids and much more. This concept allows our patients to receive holistic and individual care that is tailored to their specific needs.
